With the new, redone J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie out in theaters, the most fevered rivalry comes out once again: Is Star Trek better than Star Wars? Or vice versa?
No doubt, it’s one of the most debated rivalries in the universe. Harvard versus Yale? Coke versus Pepsi? Pele versus Maradona? The real battle royale, the one that really inspires fanatical fandom, is between Star Wars and Star Trek, the titans of science fiction.
Though the key difference is George Lucas with his high-contrast, good vs. evil epic going the “war” route. Though the new Star Trek s replete with explosions, the genesis of the series will always remain in the world of reason, logic and a charmingly ’60s trust in technology.
Star Wars, on the other hand, is little tweak and vaguely biblical. Weapons are rarely – if ever – set to “high-tech.” There are several other reasons, we’re almost tempted to give Star Wars the star.
Now, what’s your take? Star Trek or Star Wars?
